What to check before you book a shortlet in Lagos

A good shortlet can be more comfortable than a hotel. A poorly run one can ruin a trip. Before you pay for any apartment, ours included, check these points.

1. Power and water

Ask whether power is available 24 hours and how it is supplied, whether by inverter, generator or both. Ask about hot water. These two things shape your whole stay.

2. Security

Is the building in a gated estate? Is there 24-hour security and CCTV? Is access controlled at night? This matters most for families and late arrivals.

3. What the price includes

Confirm the nightly rate, the number of guests it covers, and whether WiFi, housekeeping and parking are included. Ask about weekly or monthly rates if you are staying longer.

4. The caution fee

Most Lagos shortlets collect a refundable caution fee (security deposit). Ask how much it is, what it covers and how quickly it is refunded after checkout.

5. House rules

Parties, smoking, pets and extra guests are usually restricted. Knowing the rules up front avoids awkward conversations and deductions later.

6. See it before you pay

Recent photos help, but a video walk-through is better. Every apartment with a video tour on our site shows the actual unit you will stay in.

7. Pay safely

Pay into a company account, keep your receipt, and get written confirmation of your dates, check-in time and the address.

Send us your dates on WhatsApp and we’ll confirm availability, the full cost and everything that’s included before you pay.
